Outdoor Amphitheater Seating

These are some mats that my family and friends have been using for a couple of years at the 4th of July party at my house. My mom made them using bed sheets and Foil-Bubble-Foil insulation. The sheets are just sewn into a flat "bag" and the insulation is inserted and then they are sewn closed. At first I thought we would need to quilt them or sew across them to keep everything from slipping but it turned out to not be necessary.

It's nice to have something to sit on in the grass to avoid grass stains and getting damp from the moisture in the grass. Blankets work ok, but tend to get covered in dried clippings which are hard to wipe off when you're done. The clippings don't stick as well to sheets, but they are so thin they get damp easily. The FBF by itself didn't work well because it was too slippery. But combining the sheets and the FBF together works great!

The sheets were extras that had been sitting in my closet. The FBF came from a winery in Napa who was just throwing it out. Little did they know how valuable it was!
