• BBQ cart from recycled redwood

    I made this cart in June of 2008 about a week before the 4th of July. For some reason it never got posted to my blog. The redwood came from some raised beds in my yard that I ripped out. Parts of it were pretty badly rotted - I mean spalted - but there was enough to make the cart. I only had to edge glue the two long side pieces on the top to get boards big enough.   • I need my own lumber mill

    Last Friday I woke up to find 3 large branches had been torn off my maple tree during the big storm that had happened. Looking out the window they didn't seem that big, but when I got out next to them, they were huge ! I don't think the damage to the fence is too severe since it's just a wire fence. But the branches are much much too big for me to drag away. They will need to be cut up before I can move them. I'm hoping I can find a way to slab the bigger parts and save them...

  • Making Dowels

    In the past I've made dowels with my router by using a round over bit and square stock and making 4 (or more) passes with the stock which ends up with a pretty nice dowel. The limitation was I could only make dowel sizes that I had a matching round over bit for. After a bit of searching to see if there was a way to make dowels without a lathe, I discovered this site .   • Pizza Protector

    I made this shield to protect the crust of my pizza from drying out too much while cooking. In the past I've used aluminum foil to protect the crust, but it's a lot of work to prep the pizza, and it tends to stick to the cheese and I end up with aluminum bits or else tearing off big chunks of the pizza.
