Last night I spent a couple of hours getting a one button menu working using the cable box display and a remote control. I added a third device that I'm going to use frequently to my entertainment center and I didn't want to get another remote out to change the input on the receiver. What's a one button menu? It's a menu that I can control using only a single button . There's no additional buttons for anything, not scrolling through the list or selecting items. The way I...

It took quite a while after I put up my blog before the spammers found it. But once they did they have been relentless. They clog it up every day with tons of comment spam and trackback spam. I've been going back to the bBlog site periodically checking for an update, but it seems that bBlog development ceased back in July of 2005. Sure, I could switch to some other blog software, but the reason I went with bBlog was because of the simplicity. I don't really want to try to figure out...

I'm still not sure why he wanted to know, but we had 262x series (2622, 2623, and color 2627) as well as 264x series. This reminded Pat of a crazy program I had written which ran on all of the terminals, but also had extra features on the touch screen HP 150. The program would let you turn an ordinary text terminal into a windowed terminal, and...

Several days ago while feverishly working on CheatZILLA I got tired of being distracted by Seven so I put his bed in my computer room and locked him in here with me so he would settle down and let me work. I made the discovery that with the door closed the room would start heating up a lot. Being broke and out of work this was good since I have only been running the heater in the morning to heat the house up just enough so it's not so hard to get out of bed. For most of the winter when...

Well for some reason Telepacific decided that they needed to come out to a place where I consult and swap out their T1 router and replace it with another brand. Something about since the hardware is running fine it's at its "end of life" and has to be replaced. Whatever.   Apparently they got into it and checked over some of the configs to copy to the new box. But not all of the configs. They managed to set the LAN side of their router back to the private IP it was...
